Welcome to another great year in Mrs. Saracino's Music Class!
We are now on Year 3 of our Ukulele Program, and all students will be given ukulele instruction as part of their music class! We are so grateful to Music Drives Us for providing the instruments to our classroom.
Here's how GRADING works in instrumental music:
Students are given a grade each time they attend music class. Since there is little written work to be graded and no homework, most of your grade is based on what you do in class each day. Students are given a grade based on the following rubric:
Assessment : Students will be assessed based on participation in the classroom, and their understanding of the material as shown through their contributions to classroom discussion, as well has their classroom behavior.
Dimension Participation Understanding Behavior
4 pts Offered many responses Showed excellent understanding Attentive, courteous
3 pts Offered some responses Showed good understanding Somewhat attentive, courteous
2 pts Offered few responses Showed fair understanding Somewhat attentive,
Somewhat courteous
1 pt Offered no responses Showed poor understanding Not attentive, and/or not
An average of your daily classroom score accounts for 80% of your grade. The remaining 20% is based on your grades on in-class projects and end of unit assessments :) It's easy to get an A in music!

About Mrs. Saracino
|
Mrs. Saracino holds a B.S. in Ed. in Music Education from Hofstra University in New York, and a Mater's Degree in Educational Leadership from Bridgewater State. She grew up in a musical family and has been singing for as long as she can remember. She has been teaching General Music at Abigail Adams for several years now, and worked in a primary school in Fall River, MA before that. She has also directed the Adams school chorus and Musical Club for several years. In addition, she taught musical theatre at the Starline Academy in Stoughton and has performed in local bands and theatrical productions over the years. In her (very minimal) spare time, she enjoys spending time with her two sons, Joey and Vinny, singing until everyone else is annoyed at her, building websites, and writing about herself in the third person. She is also Batman.
